Kedrion Biopharma have a new and exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven Team Leader to join our Quality department (Biohemistry) on-site in Elstree, Hertfordshire.
As a Team Leader, you will lead and support the effective day-to-day delivery of Quality Control activities, ensuring testing, compliance, training, safety and operational priorities are completed to the required standards and timelines.
The role provides leadership to the QC team, supports audit readiness, drives continuous improvement, and ensures that quality records, controlled documents, resources and processes are managed effectively to meet business and regulatory expectations.
What you'll do
Each QC Team Leader willhave ownership of one specific area of responsibility from the following roles.
You will be expected to carry out the above general duties of the Team Leader role as well as the specific requirements of the area assigned.
You will be expected to have an understanding of each role, as you may be required to be rotated or reassigned between these different areas as and when operational requirements or business needsnecessitate, as well as cover for periods of leave, such as sickness and annual leave.
The initial responsibility for this Team Leader role is- Governance
Responsible for managing departmental stock levels, including reagents, consumables and reference preparations, ensuring materials are available to support testing activities and operational requirements.
Oversee the ordering process and management of critical reagents, while maintaining effective control of Internal Quality Control (IQC) materials, performance trending and stock requirements.
Lead and track Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives, supporting continuous improvement activities and monitoring project progress.
Coordinate departmental training compliance, including method training, health and safety requirements, policies, occupational health assessments and other mandatory activities, ensuring completion within required timescales.
Support health and safety management through action tracking, laboratory inspections, hazard and incident reporting, and maintaining oversight of COSHH and risk assessment reviews.
Provide support for sample approvals, prepare and present Product Quality Review (PQR) reports, and monitor laboratory housekeeping standards to ensure compliance and good laboratory practice.
Qualifications and need-to-know
Skills & Education required to help you within the role –
- BSc degree in a relevant scientific subject, or equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
- 3–5 years’ experience working within a laboratory environment.
- Demonstrable experience and competence in managing and developing others.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of GMP and GLP requirements.
- Experience of raising, reviewing and investigating Quality Records (QRs), Out-of-Specification (OOS) results and invalid assay investigations.
- Demonstrable leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop team members, delegate effectively, resolve conflict and manage employee-related issues.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, capable of managing laboratory operations, sample workloads and staffing requirements while prioritising competing demands and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including external partners and regulatory authorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and build productive working relationships both internally and externally.
- Highly analytical and systematic, with strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to quickly understand and apply new concepts and information.
