Kedrion Biopharma is looking for a motivated and driven Biochemistry Analyst to join our Quality department at our Elstree, Hertfordshire site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Life Science graduate or an early-career scientist who is passionate about biochemistry and keen to build practical experience within a supportive biopharmaceutical environment.

Working alongside experienced industry professionals, you will develop essential laboratory skills while gaining valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a leading biopharmaceutical company.

You will contribute to important analytical activities and learn to perform a broad range of methods, including chromogenic assays, UV-Vis methods and ELISAs.

You will also support the smooth running of the laboratory through sample and reagent preparation, equipment care, accurate documentation and general laboratory housekeeping.

What You'll Do

  • Perform a wide variety of laboratory testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, company policies and Good Manufacturing Practice requirements, applying approved methods accurately and consistently.
  • Prepare reagents, standards and control samples, while supporting general laboratory housekeeping activities such as buffer preparation, sample aliquoting, equipment cleaning and maintaining an organised working environment.
  • Promptly report deviations and results that fall outside specifications or established limits, providing support with investigations when required and ensuring concerns are escalated appropriately.
  • Read, collate, report and archive results using approved documentation and computer systems, including completing associated administrative activities and ensuring laboratory records are clear, accurate and traceable.
  • Operate a variety of analytical instruments and software packages used for data analysis, collation and related laboratory applications, including Laboratory Information Management Systems where applicable.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is clean, calibrated and properly maintained, carry out system suitability checks where required, and assist with the calibration or validation of laboratory equipment and automated systems.
  • Maintain effective stock control, recommend revisions to documentation where improvements are identified, and contribute ideas that support continuous improvement within the laboratory and wider Quality function.
  • Organise and manage your assigned activities, report issues or delays to line management in a timely manner, collaborate with colleagues across departments and attend relevant meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biosciences or Forensic Science.
  • An understanding of laboratory operations and practical scientific work, including the importance of following defined procedures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, gained through employment, an industrial placement, university study or other relevant practical laboratory activity.
  • Practical experience using analytical equipment and pipettes safely, accurately and in line with laboratory procedures.
  • Experience preparing clear and accurate scientific or laboratory reports.
