What you’ll be doing as a PE Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high‑quality PE and vocational lessons for pupils in Years 9–11
  • Lead the development of the PE curriculum and associated vocational courses
  • Organise trips and enrichment activities to support learning
  • Monitor and develop the PE subject area, including resources and budget management
  • Work collaboratively with inclusion staff, SENDCo, exam officers, and awarding bodies
  • Provide staff training and contribute to whole‑school development
  • Act as a tutor and complete assessment, marking, and reporting requirements
  • Attend INSET and support safeguarding and wider school priorities

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). A qualification in SEND education is desirable.
  • Experience of working with children with SEND and ASC is ideal but applications from those working in mainstream settings are very welcome.
  • Experience in teaching Secondary PE curriculum
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching methods.

Opened in 2015, Arc School Old Arley is an independent special day school situated within a rural village near Nuneaton, affording children and young people the opportunity to take part in a range of activities within the local community. The spacious school environment is bright and welcoming with a variety of different learning spaces inside and outside. Our school has a particular focus on taking learning outside the classroom into the grounds and community beyond and working in partnership with other organisations to enrich opportunities for children and young people. Arc School Old Arley is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7‑19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all colleagues to share this commitment.
