Are you passionate about supporting young minds and making a real difference in the classroom? We’re looking for a dedicated, energetic, and caring Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team! What you’ll be doing: Identify strategies to help overcome individual pupils’ barriers to learning Be prepared to use humour and restorative practice to ensure a child-centred approach Support the transition of new pupils arriving or existing pupils returning to school, putting the necessary support in place to overcome any barriers to learning Provide in class support as necessary to meet the needs of the school. Liaise with other staff to monitoring pupils’ behaviour and well being Build positive relations with parents/carers to encourage family involvement in their child’s progress Communicate with parents/carers about specific support in place for their child. Hawley Woods School provides a specialist environment and support primarily for autistic children and those needing a similarly adapted approach with small classes of 6-8 pupils within our calm, nurturing setting. Our school caters for children from the age of 7 up to 16 years (Key Stages 2, 3 and 4). We help children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who may be struggling to keep up with the pace of work, may be losing confidence, or struggling with the overwhelming sensory environment of their mainstream school. We also help children who have been out of education for a period of time, to positively re-engage in an education which takes into account any negative experiences they may have had in schools so far. Hawley Woods School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
