About High Peak School
High Peak School is a specialist independent school for children and young people aged 7–16 years, many of whom have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs, including ADHD. It is an exciting time to join with the expansion of the RAISE pathway designed to support pupils back into education who have emotionally based school non-attendance. Developing safe and secure relationships with pupils and staff and watching personal growth of pupils is amazing to see. Set over 20 acres of beautiful countryside amongst the rolling hills of Derbyshire, our unique environment provides an exceptional setting for learning, personal development, and wellbeing.
The Role
We are looking for a passionate English specialist primary-trained teacher who can confidently deliver the English curriculum across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, with the ability to teach Key Stage 4 being highly desirable.
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons that inspire and motivate learners.
- Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, and a range of additional learning needs to achieve their full potential.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to support pupil outcomes.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the wider life of the school.
- Demonstrate high expectations for both academic achievement and personal development.
What We're Looking For
We would love to hear from candidates who:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have significant experience teaching English across KS2 and KS3.
- Ideally have experience of teaching English at KS4.
- Have a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
- Have experience working with children and young people with ASC, ADHD, and additional needs.
- Are resilient, adaptable, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every pupil.
