Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated educator looking to make a real impact on young minds? We are seeking a motivated and inspiring English Lead Teacher to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our children and young people.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead and evaluate the English curriculum across Primary to KS4.
- Teach KS3/4 pupils with EHCPs and model high‑quality English teaching.
- Drive whole‑school literacy, including reading, writing, and oracy.
- Quality‑assure teaching through observations, feedback, and coaching.
- Oversee assessment, track progress, and coordinate interventions.
- Lead the English team, including CPD, mentoring, and departmental meetings.
- Manage the subject budget and contribute to school improvement planning.
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers and support wider school activities.
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a teaching degree or equivalent.
- A qualification in SEND education is desirable.
- Experience of working with children with SEND and ASC is ideal but applications from those working in mainstream primary or secondary settings and ECTs who feel they are ready to take on a challenge are very welcome.
- Teaching experience delivering the English National Curriculum (KS2 to KS4).
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate children and young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching methods.

Opened in 2018, Oakbridge School is an independent special day school in Birmingham with a specially designed learning environment created to meet the needs of autistic children. We provide a calm, low arousal, safe, positive and nurturing place where young people can learn and grow. Oakbridge School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
