We are seeking a passionate and ambitious Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team, leading Quality of Education – Curriculum, Teaching and Learning. This role is ideal for an experienced leader committed to inclusive, trauma‑informed practice and supporting pupils with autism and associated needs. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to drive the school’s vision, support daily leadership, and lead the design and delivery of a high‑quality, ambitious and well‑sequenced curriculum aligned with the Independent School Standards.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the day‑to‑day leadership of the school and uphold all policies
  • Teach an agreed timetable and fulfil full class teacher duties
  • Contribute to school vision, culture and strategic direction
  • Support the School Development Plan and ensure staff alignment
  • Lead and manage staff, including recruitment, performance and CPD
  • Maintain high standards of teaching, learning and assessment
  • Ensure a broad, inclusive curriculum and oversee effective timetable planning
  • Promote high attainment for all pupils
  • Lead or support pupil progress systems and communication with parents
  • Oversee resources, quality assurance and audit processes
  • Lead CEIAG and support transitions into KS5
  • Act as Deputy DSL, promoting safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
  • Senior leadership training and proven experience in leading curriculum development
  • Strong background in staff development and coaching
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with SEN needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Additional SEN qualifications or specialist training
  • Experience overseeing or contributing to school financial management
  • Involvement in successful inspections and audit processes
