An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Business Manager at Keats Group Practice. The list size is approximately 13,500 patients. This is a full-time role with the opportunity to work over 4/5 days. The post is for 37.5 hours per week.
The partners are forward-thinking and looking for an exceptional leader with strong business management skills, particularly in strategic management, compliance management, human resources (HR), project management, public relations, financial planning, income generation and budgeting. The successful candidate will need to be able to work collaboratively with the operations manager and the partners, as a group and individually, to develop and implement strategies.
We are looking for a confident and resilient individual with excellent communication skills. It is essential that the new manager can ensure that the practice continues to run smoothly, exploring opportunities for collaborative working and income generation. We are open to change and looking to develop future systems and services, in addition to those already offered that support excellent patient care and continued financial viability. Previous NHS experience is essential; primary care management experience is desirable. Those without primary care experience will need to demonstrate transferable knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job include:
- Working with the partners and the wider practice team, including the Operations Manager.
- Collaborating with the Primary Care Network (PCN) to explore additional opportunities.
- Focusing on future stability and managing growth while being aware of current opportunities and threats for health service providers.
About us:
The practice is a member of North Camden (PCN) which comprises five practices. Their aims include providing high-quality patient-centred healthcare and working with local partners to ensure sustainability for local health services for the future. The practice is also a training practice.
The health and wellbeing of staff and patients is always the main priority, and the partnership is continuously looking at ways of improving both the patient care provided and staff morale. The practice is an experienced training practice and provides training and development for medical students, doctors at all stages of their training and other allied health professionals.
The team includes 6 salaried GPs, a comprehensive nursing team, practice nurses and health care assistants. The practice also benefits from close working with other allied health professionals including clinical pharmacists, musculoskeletal practitioners, an occupational therapist, mental health support workers and social prescribers. In addition, the practice has an experienced and skilled reception and administration team.
First stage interviews will be held on the 11th & 12th February 2026.
Job responsibilities:
The focus of the role is strategic planning and future proofing, which will include overseeing the management of the practice, optimising efficiency, and financial performance. Ensuring the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Clinical Rota Manager & Operations Manager in the functional management of clinical and administrative staff.
- Maintaining and ensuring compliance with HR legislation.
- Oversight of the financial elements of the practice, including budgets, bank accounts, petty cash, payroll, payments, and receipts.
- Ensuring the practice explores all opportunities to maximise income and reduce expenditure in collaboration with the partners.
- Briefing partners on all financial and strategic matters, including forecasting and future sustainability.
- Supporting and having oversight of QoF (Quality and Outcomes) targets, Enhanced Services and all other quality incentive schemes.
- Working with the practices clinical lead/director and PCN Manager to ensure that the practice team are kept up to date on PCN activities.
- Supporting the Operations Manager ensuring the building is fit for purpose and in line with NHS estates policy.
- Identifying, coordinating, and supporting key projects within the practice.
- Coordinating the compilation and review of practice reports.
- Ensuring ongoing practice CQC compliance.
- Developing and coordinating an effective communication strategy.
- Providing support to the partners and the partnership to ensure excellent team-working.
- Chairing and overseeing effective business meetings.
Secondary responsibilities may include:
- Deputising for the Partners at internal and external meetings.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for NHS(E), ICB, PPG, community services, suppliers and other external stakeholders.
- Partaking in audit as requested by the GP Partners.
