The predicted salary is between 25000 - 30000 £ per year.

Due to restrictions on the number of certificates we can issue at present, candidates without an existing visa or right to work in the UK are unlikely to be suitable for the advertised post.

As a Painter and Decorator, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. You will be responsible for carrying out high-quality painting and decorating work throughout the care home, ensuring that all areas are well-presented and maintained to a high standard. Working within the maintenance team, you will help create a pleasant living environment while minimising disruption to residents and adhering to all health and safety requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out painting and decorating works throughout the care home to a high standard, including resident bedrooms, communal areas, offices, and external areas where required.
  • Prepare surfaces for decoration by cleaning, filling, sanding, stripping, and priming as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs associated with decorating and property upkeep.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance and redecoration requests from management, staff, and residents.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the home's décor and finishes to identify areas requiring repair, maintenance, or improvement.
  • Identify, document, and report hazards, defects, and maintenance issues.
  • Ensure all decorating work is completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to residents and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of decorating and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, including Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, and agreed working practices.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly audits as required and support corrective action planning.
  • Immediately report any issues or failures that may impact legal compliance, resident safety, or service delivery.
  • Liaise effectively with the Care Home Manager, Maintenance and Estates Team, and external contractors.
  • Maintain decorating tools, materials, and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment whilst completing tasks within agreed timescales and to a high standard.
  • Meet individual targets and contribute to the overall performance of the team.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe, comfortable, welcoming, and homely environment for residents.
  • Provide a professional, courteous, and respectful service to residents, relatives, visitors, and colleagues at all times.
  • Support the home's commitment to delivering high-quality care by maintaining an attractive and well-presented living environment.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator, ideally within care, healthcare, hospitality, residential, or commercial settings.
  • A recognised Painting and Decorating qualification or relevant trade certification is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of painting and decorating techniques, including surface preparation, finishing, and maintenance of high-quality standards.
  • Experience carrying out minor maintenance, repair, and general upkeep tasks.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Ability to identify defects, hazards, and maintenance requirements, taking appropriate action where necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, residents, clients, and contractors.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship and presentation.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage workload efficiently.
  • Experience using digital maintenance management systems, record-keeping software, or mobile applications is advantageous.
