A market-leading power solutions business is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 12-month contract (Outside IR35) to design and develop new sheet metal–based products, as well as convert 2D AutoCAD drawings into 3D SolidWorks models. What we offer * Up to £400pd or £50ph, outside IR35 * 12 month contract * Burton on Trent, with up to 2 days remote per week after onsite initial period Requirements * Extensive background as a Mechanical Engineer * Sheetmetal component design * Proficient in SolidWorks & AutoCAD * Understanding of 3D Modelling & Design * High level experience in 2D drawings * Electronic enclosure design experience * Strong communication skills as well as ability to discuss and present complex ideas clearly * Competent with Microsoft Office * PDM, GD&T Role * Develop innovative concepts for next-generation sheet metal and electronic enclosure products * Create 3D CAD models from 2D AutoCAD drawings * Prepare general arrangement and detailed drawings using SolidWorks * Apply DFM/DFA principles to reduce build and assembly times * Manage Bills of Materials (BOM) using EPDM systems * Optimise designs throughout all development phases * Participate in design and model reviews to ensure accuracy and quality * Ensure compliance with sheet metal design standards, tolerances, and welding specifications * Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions * Maintain thorough design documentation and provide regular progress updates to the Lead Engineer * Uphold high standards for quality, timelines, and budget adherence * Work effectively within a team environment while managing priorities independently * Resolve design-related issues with stakeholders quickly and effectively * Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies and project standards Sound of interest?
