Are you passionate about building and operating highly reliable, scalable infrastructure at scale? We are partnering with a cutting-edge science and technology organisation to find a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer who will take ownership of the core platforms that power mission-critical workloads across the business.
This role is ideal for a senior DevOps engineer who thrives on automation, performance optimisation, and operating complex systems in demanding environments.
The Opportunity:
- Join a high-impact platform engineering team responsible for designing, securing, and operating large-scale compute and data platforms.
- Work closely with engineers and researchers to enable teams to move faster through robust DevOps practices, modern infrastructure tooling, and strong operational foundations.
- This is a hands-on role with real influence over architecture, tooling, and standards across the organisation.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and operate highly available, scalable infrastructure platforms supporting compute-intensive workloads.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Build and maintain Kubernetes-based platforms for containerised workloads.
- Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reliable deployments.
- Implement observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response best practices.
- Optimise performance across compute, storage, and networking layers.
- Embed security, resilience, and compliance controls into platform design (“DevSecOps”).
- Partner with internal teams to forecast capacity, improve reliability, and streamline delivery workflows.
Tech Stack & Tools:
- DevOps & Platform: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Argo CD, CI/CD pipelines
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Azure, GCP (cloud-agnostic mindset)
- Compute & Storage: GPU-enabled infrastructure, high-performance storage systems, high-speed networking
- Observability: Monitoring, logging, and alerting tools across distributed systems
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive experience in DevOps or platform engineering roles operating production systems at scale.
- Strong expertise with Kubernetes, containers, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience building reliable CI/CD pipelines and automation-first platforms.
- Deep understanding of Linux, networking, and distributed systems.
- Comfortable working autonomously in complex, fast-moving environments.
- Experience with GPU or high-performance compute environments is a strong plus (but not essential).
Why Apply?
- Work on technically challenging platforms with real-world impact.
- Influence architecture and tooling decisions at a senior level.
- Join a collaborative, high-calibre engineering culture.
- Competitive compensation and excellent benefits, including private medical insurance, enhanced holiday, and pension.
