Our client is a rapidly scaling technology business building intelligent software platforms that leverage AI to solve complex, data-intensive problems at scale.

They're investing heavily in the next generation of AI capabilities, combining large language models with vast, continually evolving datasets to build systems that deliver meaningful, real-world outcomes.

Working with massive volumes of structured and unstructured data, you'll be creating AI products with an exciting real world use-case.

Why this role stands out

  • Build production-grade AI systems using the latest LLM and agentic AI technologies
  • Work with complex, large-scale datasets in a genuinely engineering-led environment
  • Own products from concept through to production deployment
  • Join a high-performing team shipping code multiple times a day
  • Hybrid working from Oxford with excellent benefits and long-term progression

The Role

This is a builder's role focused on turning cutting-edge AI into production software.

As a Senior AI Software Engineer, you'll design and develop intelligent systems that reason, plan and interact with large, complex datasets using modern LLM frameworks.

You'll work across the full software lifecycle, collaborating closely with engineering, data and domain specialists to build scalable AI applications that solve challenging real-world problems.

This role combines backend software engineering with applied AI, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy building robust systems rather than simply experimenting with models.

  • What You'll Be Building
  • Production AI applications powered by LLMs and agentic workflows
  • Intelligent software capable of navigating large, fast-changing datasets
  • Scalable backend services that integrate AI into real-world products
  • Engineering practices centred around automation, testing and rapid delivery
  • AI systems designed for reliability, observability and long-term maintainability
  • A collaborative engineering culture focused on innovation and technical excellence
  • Your Experience

We're looking for an experienced software engineer who enjoys building production AI systems and thrives in fast-paced, high-ownership environments.

  • 6+ years developing large-scale backend software
  • Strong commercial experience with Python
  • Experience building and shipping production software from concept through deployment
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and automation
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
  • Comfortable working in highly technical, product-led environments
  • Nice to Have
  • Hands-on experience building LLM or agentic AI applications
  • Experience with frameworks such as Lang Graph, RAG or MCP
  • Understanding of MLOps and AI deployment practices
  • Experience testing and evaluating non-deterministic AI systems
  • Infrastructure as Code and cloud platform experience, ideally AWS

Why Join?

  • Competitive salary, annual bonus and comprehensive benefits package
  • Opportunity to build production AI systems using the latest LLM technologies
  • Work on complex engineering challenges involving large-scale, rapidly evolving datasets
  • Collaborative, low-ego engineering culture with genuine technical ownership

  • Clear opportunity to influence architecture, AI strategy and the future direction of next-generation intelligent software
