The Role As Software Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team of approximately 15β20 Software Engineers across multiple Agile squads, ensuring they remain engaged, high-performing and consistently delivering high-quality software.
Reporting into senior engineering leadership, you'll focus on people leadership, delivery management and engineering excellence rather than hands-on development.
Whilst this isn't a technical lead position, you'll need the technical credibility to support engineers, understand technical challenges and help remove delivery obstacles.
Key responsibilities include: Leading, mentoring and developing Software Engineers through coaching, performance management and career development.
Managing delivery across multiple Agile squads, ensuring sprint planning, capacity management and delivery remain on track.
Working closely with Product and Engineering leadership to align technical delivery with commercial priorities.
Leading recruitment, workforce planning and continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of AI tools to improve engineering efficiency and delivery.
Your Experience We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who combines strong people leadership with a solid software engineering background.
You'll ideally have: Proven experience managing Software Engineering teams within Agile environments.
Previous hands-on software development experience, enabling you to build credibility with Senior and Principal Engineers.
Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, Continuous Delivery and modern software engineering practices.
Experience leading performance management, coaching and career development across engineering teams.
A track record of improving engineering delivery, managing technical recruitment and building high-performing teams.
