We’re working with a highly successful, fast-growing European investment and asset management organisation to recruit an experienced Cloud Engineer to join their expanding IT & Change function. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and scaling a modern, multi-cloud environment, supporting cutting-edge initiatives including AI-driven platforms and large-scale infrastructure transformation.

The Opportunity

As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll operate across both AWS (primary) and Azure (secondary) environments, supporting business-as-usual operations while driving forward key strategic projects. You’ll take ownership of cloud architecture, resilience, and security, ensuring platforms are scalable, cost-efficient, and aligned with best practice, while acting as a technical leader within the wider IT team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure estates
  • Review and document architecture, data flows, and technical designs
  • Support the scaling of AWS infrastructure to enable AI and data-led initiatives
  • Lead BCP / Disaster Recovery planning and execution across cloud platforms
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance, governance, and risk mitigation
  • Drive automation using tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, ARM templates, and Azure CLI
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineers and acting as an escalation point
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code delivery via Azure DevOps
  • Contribute to M&A technical assessments and integration of new environments
  • Ensure platforms meet standards for security, availability, performance, and resilience

What We’re Looking For

Core Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience in AWS (essential) and Azure (desirable)
  • Experience managing large-scale AWS environments (multi-account, governed estates)
  • Proven delivery in hybrid (cloud/on-prem) and multi-cloud environments

Technical Skills

  • AWS: EC2, S3, ECS/EKS, VPC, Transit Gateway, Load Balancers, Auto Scaling
  • Azure: VMs, VNets, Storage, App Services, Entra ID, Load Balancing
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (essential), reusable modules, Terraform Cloud
  • Networking: DNS (Route 53), hybrid connectivity, multi-cloud networking
  • Monitoring & Ops: CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics

Additional Strengths

  • Experience with security, governance, and cost optimisation in cloud environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident management capability
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and consultancy-style communication skills
