Working at KDDI Europe’s Network Operation Centre in London Docklands. The main purpose of the division is to maintain KDDI services up & running and restore customer networking issues 24/7. A problem‑solving mindset is essential.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Receive complaints from customers and report back on the progress or result of troubleshooting.
  • Identify the source of problems and propose preventive solutions.
  • Handle KDDI Japan domestic services, contacting customers and domestic teams in Japan.
  • Maintain secure operations and keep the environment safe and tidy.
  • Set priorities and resolve problems proactively.
  • Share test plans with relevant co‑workers before conducting affected‑circuit tests with partner carriers.
  • Troubleshoot with relevant counterparts such as HQ in Tokyo, European Network Providers and HCM GNOC.
  • Record relevant information in KDDI’s ticketing systems.
  • Escalate matters when necessary to the team and other relevant divisions.
  • Share information within the team and train the team when necessary.
  • Provide housing support when requested.
  • Create monthly reports for customers.
  • Coordinate access arrangement and maintenance notification arrangements with relevant parties.
  • Update documentation, including Typo3 documents for A/B end customers.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from your line manager.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Key Competencies

  • Fluent business‑level English and Japanese (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) is essential.
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in customer service or call‑center operation is an advantage (Salary level 1).
  • Additional network skills are beneficial (Salary level 2).
  • Networking protocols: Ethernet, TCP/IP, MPLS, ADSL, SDSL, and fibre cabling.
  • Experience with servers, firewalls, and Cisco equipment is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

Information Security Responsibilities

  • Follow KDDI Europe’s Information Security and Data Protection Policies to safeguard company and customer information.
  • Complete training and awareness sessions when requested to ensure you understand policy updates.

This position is an integral part of KDDI HQ’s Global Network Operation. The GNOC Tech team’s ability to provide and maintain our products and services creates a significant dependency on this role. Willingness and ability to travel freely within EMEA, CIS, and other regions are essential.
