The Lead Engineer will be required to work closely with KDC clients to ensure their requirements and specifications are met, or exceeded, in a cost-effective and timely manner, whilst also delivering fee earning work themselves. A thorough knowledge of their domain of expertise will be essential, plus a good understanding of how it integrates with other domains within the client and internally. Working with the Operations and Engineering Directors, the Lead Engineer will be expected to maintain and develop existing client relationships, develop new client relationships, be commercially aware and be willing and able to develop new profitable opportunities – with the goal of profitable company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage team on a day to day basis to ensure delivery, quality and hours budget targets are met thus ensuring growth whilst maintaining financial targets.
- Teams Resource Planning (both staff and equipment).
- Develop relevant training plans in order to ensure teams ability to complete and future projects.
- Ensure good engineering practice and industry leading technical standards.
- Assist in maintaining and developing quality management system.
- Responsible for all technical inputs and costs to the Bid Team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients.
- Responsibility for technical input from 2nd Tiers.
Attributes
- Extensive and demonstrable experience of Engineering department management & leadership of engineering teams.
- Clear and demonstrable team & individual development experience.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering and technology best practice and processes.
- Good communication at all levels - ability to present information and to respond to questions from customers, line reports, managers or directors of the business.
- Previous experience of delivering technical work packages.
- Technical degree and Chartered status desirable but not essential.
- Experience working with Airbus programmes, standards, or within the Airbus supply chain is highly desirable.
