Reporting to the Head of Function / Engineering Director, the Team Leader will play an important role in all aspects of the technical delivery of work undertaken for our clients. The Team Leader will have a proven track record of providing team leadership to multiple clients with particular emphasis on delivery and quality.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- To lead and manage a team of ~5 Mechanical Design Engineers in delivering design based work packages to time, cost and quality.
- Work packages will typically consist of the production of design data for changes to aircraft and/or equipment/components.
- To ensure compilation and delivery of all design documentation meets internal and customer required standards, and where applicable demonstrate compliance with the regulatory requirements.
- If suitably qualified and on award of delegated technical signatory, check design data and deliverables.
- Provide design input to and attend customer programme meetings, ie Technical Review Meetings, PDR & CDR etc.
- Support the checking of design data and deliverables prior to customer delivery.
- Team competency and performance management including allocation of tasks to appropriate team members.
- Manage and provide technical guidance to the team, managing enablement and dependencies, ensuring the team perform the tasks assigned to them to the highest technical standard, in a timely manner and within the prescribed budget.
- Point of contact to the customer Technical and Project team from task scoping, project launch, progression and reporting through to delivery.
- Working with the Operations and Project Management team in managing and maintaining project risk and dependency trackers.
- Working with the Lead Engineer and Engineering Director to ensure adequate and suitably capable resources are available to meet the current and planned customer requirements.
- SoW compilation reflecting verbal or written customer requests for approval by Engineering and Operations.
- Internal status reporting on work complete, budget, enablement etc, ensuring any matters arising which may affect quality, on-time delivery or technical compliance are raised to the Operations and Engineering leadership team.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record of team leadership and technical management.
- Airbus Aircraft Programmes
- VPM/PASS/APS
- Airbus Methodology
- Aerospace design experience
- Metallic and composite material design experience
- Experience of working directly with customer technical leadership teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build successful working relationships with customer points of contact as well as internal stakeholders.
- Ability to articulate project progress to Operations Manager
- Experience of working to tight deadlines on projects and interfacing with clients.
- Demonstrated experience in risk and dependency management
- Good organisational skills.
- Good estimating skills
