We have a small alternative provision in Gillingham, and we work with schools and the local authorities in supporting primary and secondary school aged children. These children come to us for 1-2 days a week during term time. They are referred to us because they may be struggling to attend school, struggling whilst at school, they may have learning difficulties, behavioral issues, SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health), ADHD and/or Autism. They may also have a history of neglect, past traumas, currently in care or being fostered etc. We offer support to these children on a 1:1 basis either onsite or off site at various locations.

Due to the nature of the children coming to the Kings Dam, we are ideally looking for a keen, motivated and enthusiastic person with experience of safeguarding around children, and experience of working within an educational or similar setting would be beneficial. Ideally, they need to be confident with a natural understanding of behavioral management. They also need to be keen to learn, develop and have a positive, calm energy and can offer something to our students and team. If they have a particular skill set, interest or passion that they may be able to offer our students, that would also be an advantage. For example, an interest in the natural environment, crafts (woodwork, restoration etc), fishing, sports and other outdoor pursuits.
