We’re recruiting for a Goods in Manager for a busy, established business in Scarborough. This is a key role in the stock lifecycle, ensuring goods are received, checked, stored correctly, and moved through the warehouse efficiently, while hitting productivity targets and maintaining high standards across people, process, and systems. The vacancy has arisen due to business need within the business, creating an opportunity to step into a vital leadership role with real influence across warehouse performance and continuous improvement.
What the Goods in Manager job involves:
- You’ll take overall responsibility for inbound operations and stock accuracy, supporting the Operations Manager to deliver departmental and business objectives through strong leadership, KPI management, and data-led decision making.
- Leading and developing Team Leaders and their teams across Goods In, Stock Control and Nights.
- Owning performance management and driving improvement initiatives where targets aren’t being met.
- Overseeing training, mentoring, and thorough inductions for new starters, with a focus on ongoing development.
- Reporting on KPIs and setting objectives with Team Leaders in line with operational goals.
- Coordinating stock movement and warehouse flow so goods move safely, smoothly, and consistently.
- Managing H&S and risk documentation and ensuring compliance across the function.
- Handling absence/attendance reporting and managing HR activity including recruitment, investigations and disciplinary (where required).
- Cross-department liaison to improve and maintain efficiency across the wider operation.
- Using automated/computerised systems and real-time data to maximise efficiency (may include being contactable out of hours in certain situations).
Skills required:
- We’re looking for a confident, hands-on leader who can build strong teams, set clear expectations, and keep standards high in a warehouse environment.
- Proven leadership experience in a similar industry/environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to lead from the front.
- Strong attention to detail with an analytical, data-driven approach.
- Exceptional time management, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience delivering training and developing team capability.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety and best practice.
- Knowledge of HR processes (recruitment, induction, absence, disciplinaries).
- Flexibility to support rota requirements when needed.
- Experience as a Warehouse Manager / Inbound Manager / Goods In Supervisor or similar.
