Are you an experienced HR generalist who is people focused, confident managing employee relations matters independently and supporting managers as a people partner, across multiple sites? We are working exclusively with a well-established organisation looking for an HR Business Partner to join their People Partnering team, supporting managers across sites in Scarborough, Bridlington, Beverley and Hull. This is a hands-on, varied HR role where you will act as a trusted point of contact for departmental managers, many of whom may have limited HR knowledge. You will need to be confident giving clear, practical advice, explaining employment matters in a straightforward way and working independently across a broad range of employee relations issues.
What the HR Business Partner job involves:
- Providing day-to-day generalist HR support across a number of sites, building strong relationships with managers and helping them deal confidently and appropriately with people matters.
- Managing a broad range of employee relations casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, redundancy and other complex people issues.
- Advising department managers on current employment law, HR policies and best practice.
- Supporting department managers through investigations, hearings and formal processes.
- Coaching and guiding managers who may not have a strong HR background, helping them understand both the process and the practical approach required.
- Supporting organisational change, restructures and people-related projects.
- Advising on recruitment, contractual matters, performance management and the wider employee lifecycle.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues within the People Partnering team while being confident operating independently across your designated areas.
- Travelling regularly between sites across Scarborough, Bridlington, Beverley and Hull.
Skills required:
- A strong HR generalist background and the experience and confidence to operate in a largely standalone capacity.
- Strong employee relations knowledge and proven experience managing ER cases from start to finish.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- The confidence to advise and appropriately challenge managers at different levels.
- The ability to explain HR processes clearly to managers who may have little or no HR knowledge.
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to prioritise a varied workload and make sound decisions independently.
- Experience gained within a professional services, public sector, education or similarly regulated environment would be particularly relevant.
- A CIPD qualification would be beneficial, although candidates who are qualified through relevant experience will also be considered.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to the regular travel between sites.
