Are you an experienced Bookkeeper looking for a part time job in the Scarborough area? Would you like to work for a well-established engineering business, with traditional values at its core and a long-standing client base? Our client is looking for a Bookkeeper to join their small team over 4 days to manage their day to day finance function. The business prides itself on doing things properly, with quality work, trusted relationships, and a supportive, close-knit team.
What the Bookkeeper job involves:
- Managing the purchase ledger and sales ledger processes
- Bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cashflow records
- Credit card reconciliations
- Managing utility bills, insurance payments and any other support for the directors
- Preparing monthly VAT returns and supporting HMRC compliance
- Accurately managing the invoice factoring process and chasing any bad debt
- Liaising with suppliers/customers to resolve account queries
- Supporting the external accountants with information as required
Skills required:
- Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping role (SME environment ideal)
- Confident with bookkeeping fundamentals (ledgers, reconciliations, VAT)
- Comfortable using Xero accounting software
- High attention to detail with a methodical, organised approach
- Discreet and trustworthy with confidential financial information
- Proactive communicator who can work independently and manage deadlines

- This is a part time position working 4 days a week
