The Opportunity
A well-established independent tool hire company is seeking an experienced Hire Desk Manager to join its Croydon depot. This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused and organised Hire Desk Manager with experience within tool hire, plant hire, construction supply, access equipment or logistics who is looking to take the next step within a fast-paced and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth running of the hire desk, ensuring equipment is coordinated efficiently, administration is completed accurately and customers receive a consistently high level of service. Working closely with the General Manager and depot team, the Hire Desk Manager will play a key role in managing hire activity, supporting depot operations and acting as a key point of contact for customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the hire desk
- Coordinating equipment availability, collections and deliveries
- Providing excellent customer service to new and existing customers
- Processing hire agreements, quotations and administration accurately
- Supporting the depot team to ensure smooth daily operations
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues
- Handling enquiries and resolving issues in a professional manner
- Supporting the General Manager and wider depot team when required
- Ensuring a high standard of organisation, accuracy and communication
What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced Hire Desk Manager or someone with strong hire desk experience who has:
- Previous experience within a depot or branch environment
- Background in tool hire, plant hire, access equipment, construction supply or logistics (preferred)
- Strong communication and customer service skills

- Confidence dealing with customers and colleagues at all levels
- Good IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
