What the Finance Manager job involves
- Full ownership of monthly management accounts, budgeting, and reporting
- Prepare and analyse P&L, variances, and cash flow forecasts
- Oversee VAT returns, PAYE, bank reconciliations, and liaise with external accountants
- Evaluate investments, cost-saving opportunities, and supplier contracts
- Support long-term growth through insightful financial planning and analysis
- Supervise of a team member and support wider business operations
This is a hands-on role that demands strong financial control and the ability to work both strategically and operationally.
Skills required
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or Qualified by experience with strong SME experience.
- Excellent understanding of cash flow, multi-revenue models, and seasonal income
- Proficiency in Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar accounting platforms
- Strong eye for detail with a proactive, adaptable mindset and the confidence to work independently and influence decision-making
