KCR are supporting a well-established public sector organisation in Newton Aycliffe in the recruitment of an experienced Finance Manager to join their senior leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional to take ownership of the organisation’s financial operations and lead a small, dedicated team.
The Role
- Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finance function while supporting long-term financial planning and governance.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a small finance team
- Managing the full finance function including AP, AR, payroll and cash flow
- Preparing and monitoring annual budgets and longer-term financial plans
- Producing timely and accurate management accounts and year-end statements
- Supporting audit processes and maintaining strong financial controls
- Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and frameworks
- Providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making
The Person
- Proven experience in a finance management or senior finance role
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
- Experience overseeing multiple finance processes (e.g. payroll, AP/AR, reporting)
- Ability to manage, support and develop a small team
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the organisation
- Strong systems and Excel skills
Desirable:
- Experience within a public sector or local government environment
- A recognised accountancy qualification (or actively studying)
