KCR Solutions are delighted to be recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic accountancy practice in Newcastle. The ideal candidate will be organised, confident communicating with clients and HMRC, and comfortable working with cloud-based accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform client bookkeeping on cloud accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
- Code and analyse financial transactions accurately.
- Reconcile bank and cash accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare management accounts for internal and client reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of annual accounts up to trial balance.
- Complete and submit VAT returns for a range of clients.
- Review VAT returns prepared by others prior to final submission.
- Ensure VAT compliance in line with current HMRC regulations.
- Communicate with clients professionally via email, phone, and face‑to‑face meetings.
- Liaise with HMRC regarding client queries, submissions, and compliance matters.
- Provide timely updates and guidance to clients regarding their financial information.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a similar accounts or bookkeeping role (practice experience beneficial).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and work to deadlines.
- Knowledge of VAT rules and submissions.
- Competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience with cloud accounting platforms (Xero/QuickBooks/Sage) preferred.
