KCR are supporting a well-established public sector organisation in Newton Aycliffe in the recruitment of an experienced Finance Manager to join their senior leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional to take ownership of the organisation’s financial operations and lead a small, dedicated team.

The Role

  • Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finance function while supporting long-term financial planning and governance.
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Leading and developing a small finance team
    • Managing the full finance function including AP, AR, payroll and cash flow
    • Preparing and monitoring annual budgets and longer-term financial plans
    • Producing timely and accurate management accounts and year-end statements
    • Supporting audit processes and maintaining strong financial controls
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and frameworks
    • Providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making

The Person

  • Proven experience in a finance management or senior finance role
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Experience overseeing multiple finance processes (e.g. payroll, AP/AR, reporting)
  • Ability to manage, support and develop a small team
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the organisation
  • Strong systems and Excel skills

Desirable

  • Experience within a public sector or local government environment
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (or actively studying)
