We are seeking a Field Service Engineer ideally with a data cabling background and a willingness to learn new technologies. The ideal candidate will possess logical and practical thinking skills and may have experience in systems or mechanical work (e.g. HVAC repair, electrical installations, etc.). This role requires working with GSM autodiallers and lift alarm systems, ensuring proper installation, signal strength, and emergency call reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site surveys and optimise antenna placement for better signal reception. Identify and allocate engine rooms and optimal placement for (Robustel- Elevator Voice Gateway) devices to ensure the best GSM signal strength.
- Review, confirm, and install the necessary cabling for GSM and autodialer system integration.
- Diagnose and resolve network dropouts, interference, and connectivity issues.
- Understanding of VoIP, SIP, and PSTN communication protocols.
- Signal strength optimisation and troubleshooting.
- Work safely within lift environments and follow BS7255, LOLER, and Safed guidelines for the release of trapped passengers (training provided by the company).
- Collaborate with the engineering and technical teams to improve system efficiency and performance.
- Maintain documentation and provide service logs and installation reports.
Requirements
- Experience in cabling installation (structured cabling, telecom, POS systems, networking, or electrical systems).
- Logical and practical problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
- Understanding of low-voltage electrical systems, wiring, and grounding.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies (training provided for GSM systems).
- Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, lift systems, security systems) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage on-site installations efficiently.
- Comfortable working in lift environments and understanding safety protocols (training provided).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with clients on-site.
- Full UK driving license.
