Purchasing Consultant (Permanent, Part Time, 22.5 hours per week) At KCOM, our purchasing function plays a vital role in keeping the business running smoothly. As a Purchasing Consultant, you’ll be responsible for the timely and accurate execution of purchase orders, ensuring goods and services are sourced efficiently to meet operational needs. Working closely with internal teams and external suppliers, you’ll manage the full purchase order lifecycle from initial request through to delivery and payment, using Business Central as the system of record.

Salary – £15,397.20 per annum (pro‑rata), based on 22.5 hours per week
Location – Carr Lane, Hull, 2 days minimum office based
Hybrid Working – This is a part‑time role with a requirement to work in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Any remaining hours can be worked flexibly on days that suit you.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Place purchase orders in line with KCOM’s sourcing strategy, policies, preferred suppliers, framework agreements, and terms and conditions.
- Review and convert purchase requisitions, supporting stakeholders with queries and ensuring correct approval processes are followed.
- Manage the purchase order lifecycle, monitoring open purchase orders, invoices, deliveries, and matching accuracy.
- Support purchase order receipting and invoice processing to ensure payments are made to agreed terms.
- Resolve exceptions relating to pricing, coding, substitute items, delivery issues, and quality concerns.
- Create and distribute standard purchasing reports (e.g. open purchase orders and deliveries) to relevant stakeholders.
- Create and maintain accurate Supplier Master Data and Item Master Data.
- Minimise supply‑side issues caused by unclear or incomplete purchase orders, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and key stakeholders, demonstrating a strong service culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Essential experience in a process‑driven role, with strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Preferred knowledge of the purchase‑to‑pay (P2P) process, ideally within a utilities or service‑based environment.
- Confident using data and reporting tools, with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service‑oriented approach.
- IT literate, with competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP or purchasing systems.
- A commitment to supporting colleagues and suppliers while delivering accurate, timely outcomes.
