We're looking for a Cyber Security Analyst Apprentice to join our Risk and Compliance team based at Carr Lane, Hull. This is a fantastic opportunity to start or develop a career in cyber security while gaining a Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship. You'll combine hands‐on experience with structured training, working alongside experienced cyber security professionals to help protect KCOM's information, systems and data.

You’ll support the identification and assessment of cyber risks, help monitor security threats, assist with incident response activities and contribute to maintaining compliance with recognised security standards and regulatory requirements. Working collaboratively across the business, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our security posture and embedding good security practice in a fast‐moving and evolving threat landscape.

Salary: Up to ÂŁ35,000 per annum dependant on experience

Location: Carr Lane, Hull, 2 days minimum office based

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the identification, assessment and reporting of cyber security and privacy risks in line with KCOM's risk management framework.
  • Help develop, maintain and support information security policies, standards and procedures.
  • Assist in operating and monitoring security technologies, such as SIEM, vulnerability scanning tools, EDR/XDR and other security platforms.
  • Support vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and remediation activities, working closely with delivery and network teams.
  • Assist in investigating and responding to security incidents, from detection and analysis through to containment, recovery and lessons learned.
  • Help maintain incident response playbooks and support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Monitor emerging cyber threats, technologies and best practice relevant to the telecoms sector.
  • Produce clear and accurate cyber security metrics and reports with guidance from senior team members.
  • Support compliance with recognised frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and NCSC CAF.

What We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for someone early in their cyber security career or looking to re‐skill into cyber security through an apprenticeship.

  • Essential
  • A strong interest in cyber security, technology and risk management.
  • Basic awareness or understanding of cyber security concepts such as threats, vulnerabilities and controls.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in security monitoring, vulnerability management and incident response.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to technical and non‐technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work methodically and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Confidence using Microsoft tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to completing the Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship alongside your role.
  • Desirable But Not Essential
    • Previous exposure to IT, networking, technical support or cyber security environments (through study, work, or personal interest).
    • Familiarity with security technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR/XDR or vulnerability scanning tools.
    • Awareness of security frameworks or standards such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, NIST or NCSC CAF.
    • Any entry‐level cyber or IT qualifications, certifications or relevant coursework.
