PERFORMANCE ENGINEER

GT3 Endurance Racing

KCMG is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Performance Engineer to join our high-performance GT3 endurance racing programmes.

This is a key engineering position within the KCMG engineering group, focused on maximising vehicle performance through data analysis, simulation, driver feedback and systematic setup development.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Engineering & Race Engineer, drivers and wider engineering team to extract maximum performance from the car across testing, qualifying and endurance racing.

THE ROLE

As Performance Engineer, you will play a central role in understanding and improving the performance of the GT3 car.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing vehicle performance using race and test data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Supporting the development of vehicle setup and performance optimisation.
  • Working closely with the Race Engineer to translate data and analysis into clear engineering actions.
  • Analysing driver feedback and correlating it with vehicle data.
  • Supporting pre-event engineering preparation and performance planning.
  • Conducting detailed analysis of vehicle dynamics, tyres, braking, traction, aero performance and powertrain behaviour.
  • Monitoring performance trends across sessions and identifying changes in vehicle behaviour.
  • Supporting setup optimisation for the unique demands of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
  • Developing and maintaining performance analysis tools and engineering processes.
  • Analysing competitor and reference performance where relevant.
  • Supporting driver performance analysis and identifying opportunities for lap-time improvement.
  • Contributing to tyre performance and degradation analysis during testing and endurance events.
  • Supporting race strategy through analysis of pace, degradation, traffic and stint performance.
  • Working with the engineering team to optimise the car for different track conditions, fuel loads and tyre states.
  • Supporting correlation between simulation, testing and track performance.
  • Producing clear and actionable engineering reports following sessions and events.
  • Contributing to the team's longer-term performance development programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Performance Engineer will be expected to take ownership of performance analysis and provide the engineering team with clear, evidence-based recommendations.

This includes:

Data & Analysis

  • Advanced analysis of logged vehicle data.
  • Lap and sector performance analysis.
  • Driver comparison and performance benchmarking.
  • Identification of setup sensitivities and performance limitations.
  • Trend analysis across multiple sessions and events.

Vehicle Performance

  • Vehicle dynamics analysis.
  • Tyre performance and degradation.
  • Braking and traction performance.
  • Aero performance and balance.
  • Ride, platform and mechanical performance.
  • Understanding the relationship between setup changes and lap time.

Driver Performance

  • Detailed driver performance analysis.
  • Correlation of driver feedback with objective vehicle data.
  • Identification of opportunities for driver and car optimisation.
  • Supporting driver coaching through clear, data-driven feedback.

Trackside Engineering

  • Supporting engineering decisions during testing and race weekends.
  • Monitoring car performance throughout sessions and stints.
  • Providing concise recommendations under time pressure.
  • Supporting race strategy and endurance performance analysis.
  • Maintaining accurate engineering records and setup history.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for an experienced motorsport Performance Engineer with a strong technical foundation and a proven ability to turn data into performance.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in professional motorsport engineering.
  • Previous Performance Engineering experience within GT, endurance or comparable high-level racing.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and race-car performance.
  • Advanced experience with motorsport data analysis systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working directly with professional drivers.
  • A strong understanding of tyre behaviour and performance optimisation.
  • Experience of trackside engineering in a high-pressure environment.
  • A methodical and highly organised approach to engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical information clearly.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering group.
  • A strong understanding of how individual setup changes influence overall vehicle performance.

Experience with GT3 machinery, endurance racing and the Nürburgring Nordschleife would be highly advantageous.

TECHNICAL PROFILE

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with large volumes of vehicle data and extracting meaningful performance conclusions quickly.

Experience with professional motorsport engineering and data systems such as MoTeC, Bosch Motorsport, Cosworth, Atlas or equivalent platforms would be advantageous.

Knowledge of simulation, lap-time analysis, vehicle dynamics modelling or performance tools would also be beneficial.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an engineer who is curious, analytical and relentlessly focused on performance .

Someone who doesn't simply report what the data shows, but asks:

Why is it happening?

What can we change?

How much performance is available?

How do we extract it consistently over an endurance race?

The successful candidate will be expected to challenge assumptions, identify performance opportunities and work collaboratively with the wider KCMG engineering group to turn analysis into measurable results.

JOIN THE TEAM

This is an opportunity to become a key part of a professional GT3 endurance programme competing in one of the most technically demanding environments in motorsport.

If you have the technical ability, analytical mindset and competitive drive to contribute to a high-performance engineering operation in high-tier Endurance racing series, we want to hear from you.
