Our client is a successful and growing transport and distribution company. They are experts in their field and are winning new contracts and business to add to their already impressive list of clients. With the speed of the business and the necessity for a reliable service, they need an experienced Transport Manager to run the day-to-day operations of a busy site.
You will have previous experience of managing teams of drivers, dealing with orders and deliveries, troubleshooting delivery issues and ensuring pallets and goods are packed and loaded onto the lorries efficiently, safely and with no damage to the loaders or goods. This is an excellent long-term career opportunity for an experienced transport expert.
Requirements- Responsible for planning and overseeing day-to-day transport operations, managing drivers and support staff, and ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence obligations.
- Planning routes and schedules to maximise fleet utilisation and on-time delivery performance.
- Ensuring full compliance with driver hours, tachograph and Working Time Directive rules.
- Managing vehicle maintenance and inspections in line with O-licence undertakings.
- Leading, coaching and supporting drivers and transport office staff.
- Monitoring KPIs (on-time performance, cost per mile, fuel usage, empty running, OTIF).
- Handling incidents, customer issues and service failures, and putting corrective actions in place.
- Working closely with operations, warehouse, customer service and senior management.
- Running a safe and compliant operation.
- O-licence compliance, driver management, route planning, cost control, KPI reporting, customer liaison, continuous improvement, systems (Telematics/TMS/WMS).
- Must have relevant experience in the transportation industry, ideally in pallet transportation.
- CPC in Road Haulage or Passenger Transport.
- Road haulage and pallet networks.
