What you will be doing:
- Carrying out professional and technical surveys of subsea structures, assessing condition, and recommending repairs.
- Working closely with the KBS Maritime Diving team, you will support Portsmouth Naval Base infrastructure by providing structural engineering advice to ensure safety, longevity and effective whole-life asset management.
- Offering engineering support to the Diving & Maritime Section as required.
What you will bring:
- Expertise in delivering civil/structural inspections and appraisals to guide future infrastructure decisions.
- Engineering support to projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to quality standards.
- Experience in preparing specifications for repairs identified through maritime surveys.
- Team planning, risk management, quality and SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) knowledge.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and departments.
- Broad engineering support across the business as required.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing professional development.
- Understanding on how to develop and maintain effective engineering processes.
- Expertise across disciplines, with a focus on maritime structures.
- Clear, accurate survey reports and documentation.
About you:
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Understanding and knowledge to carry out structural condition surveys of buildings & maritime structures enabling structural design assessments to be undertaken.
- Competent at designing all building materials (masonry, steel, timber and concrete) by hand calculation and using computer software.
- Significant experience in the use and application of Eurocodes.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of AutoCAD software.
- The ability to prepare reports, advise on repair schedules and strategies, correspondence and emails using Windows, MS Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Willing to work in high-risk environments (Diving, Confined Spaces, Working at Heights).
- An understanding of Life Cycle Management.
- HSE Part 1 Diving Qualification or equivalent (Ideal but not essential to the role).
- You should hold a full UK Driving Licence.
