What you will be doing:
As the Safety, Health and Environment Manager you will support the business with its construction (CDM) programme, complex project risk management, hard facilities management and operational service delivery. KBS Maritime manages dry docks, high voltage electrical networks, heavy lifting, miles of roads, waterfront jetties and multiple buildings. This role will have a significant impact on our employees, hundreds of subcontractors and thousands of Naval personnel and site users. The role will be responsible for providing competent SHE management advice, systems and assurance enabling KBS Maritime to successfully manage SHE and to achieve the company’s strategic goals. The role will involve the supervision of the SHE team.
- Lead the development, maintenance and deployment of a SHE management system.
- Work as part of a small multidisciplinary team of SHE professionals, and support the SHE Lead in deploying strategy, assurance programmes and cross‑business SHE initiatives.
- Lead activities associated with improving SHE practice and performance across the business.
- Develop and implement innovative SHE change programmes, ensuring consistency and effective improvement in SHE risk management and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices, as well as contributing to the cultural and behavioural safety improvements across the entire SHE function.
What you will bring:
- A comprehensive and contemporary technical understanding of safety, health and environmental management standards and practice, including high risk activities.
- Strong, proven competence in CDM 2015, with experience advising Client / PD / PC roles.
- An experienced SHE professional with a strong understanding of SHE requirements for heavy industrial and construction sites and able to bring their experience to articulate these in order to ensure effective deployment across the business.
- An in depth understanding of how to influence others in order to operationalise, integrate and deliver SHE processes, projects and change in a business, through having an in‑depth knowledge of the business and sites.

About you:
- One or more of the following; QCF/NQF Level 5 (or higher) SHE qualifications: NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; Level 5 NVQ in Occupational Safety and Health Practice; Level 6 NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety; Safety, Health and/or Environmental Honours Degree (Bachelors or Higher); or an equivalent qualification in Safety, Health and/or Environmental subject.
- Chartered membership of an appropriate professional safety, health and/or environmental institution is desirable.
- A strong ability to influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across all levels.
- Due to the nature of the work environment, the job holder is required to have the ability to solve problems in a dynamic way.
- Analytical thought to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations.
- An effective communicator able to negotiate internally and externally across a range of levels and with high‑level sensitivity.
