What You’ll be doing:
As a key member of the Project Delivery function at Portsmouth Naval Base (PNB), you will be responsible for leading the delivery of assigned projects within the Systems Programme. This high-impact systems project management role demands a proven track record in managing Building Services projects across a diverse range of buildings and operational environments. You’ll be instrumental in driving project outcomes that meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance, ensuring every initiative aligns with the strategic goals of KBS Maritime. Reporting directly to the KBS Systems Programme Manager, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of systems project delivery, from initial scope and planning through to completion and handover. Whether managing trade packages or main contractor-led works, you’ll ensure each project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget. With systems projects varying in complexity and value, your leadership will be critical in maintaining operational excellence and supporting the continued success of the Project Execution team at Portsmouth Naval Base.
You’ll Have:
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring hands-on Project Management experience delivering Building Services projects, ideally with exposure to end-to-end delivery of works valued under £4 million and spanning durations of 12 months or more. Your decision-making will be confident and informed, grounded in a clear understanding of project dynamics and stakeholder needs. You’ll be a skilled communicator and influencer, able to establish effective communication channels, actively listen, provide and seek feedback, and present ideas with clarity and persuasion. Additionally, with strong presentation skills, you’ll be capable of conveying complex concepts and project narratives in visually engaging formats tailored to your audience. You’ll embody and promote the company’s values in everything you do, and demonstrate a firm grasp of schedule, risk, and cost management principles, ensuring projects are delivered with precision, accountability, and impact.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally hold a professional qualification in Engineering, Construction, or Project Management - qualifications such as APM PMQ are particularly advantageous. Additional certifications, including CITB SMSTS, IOSH or NEBOSH for managers, and academic credentials such as ONC/OND or a degree in Project Management, Building, Engineering, or Architecture, will further strengthen your profile. That said, KBS Maritime is committed to professional development and offers a generous training budget to support the right candidate in achieving these qualifications. You’ll bring practical experience working in environments involving electricity or other high-risk disciplines, with a strong preference for candidates who have operated within MoD or wider public sector settings. Your background will include managing multi-discipline projects, and you’ll possess a working knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards, and other relevant technical guidance.
