What you will be doing:

  • As the Environment, Health & Safety Lead, you will support the business with its construction (CDM) programme, complex project risk management, hard facilities management and operational service delivery.
  • This role will have a significant impact on our employees, hundreds of subcontractors and thousands of Naval personnel and site users.
  • The role will be responsible for providing competent EHS leadership advice, systems knowledge and assurance, enabling KBS Maritime to successfully manage EHS and to achieve the company’s strategic goals.
  • The role will involve the supervision of the EHS team.
  • Lead the development, maintenance and deployment of an EHS management system.
  • Work as part of a small multidisciplinary team of EHS professionals, and support the EHS in deploying strategy, assurance programmes and cross‑business EHS initiatives.
  • Lead activities associated with improving EHS practice and performance across the business.
  • Develop and implement innovative EHS change programmes, ensuring consistency and effective improvement in EHS risk management and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices.
  • Contribute to the cultural and behavioural safety improvements across the entire EHS function.

What you will bring:

  • A comprehensive and contemporary technical understanding of environmental, health & safety management standards and practice, including high risk activities.
  • Strong, proven competence in CDM 2015, with experience advising Client / PD / PC roles.
  • An experienced EHS professional with a strong understanding of EHS requirements for heavy industrial and construction sites.
  • Proven work experience in construction major projects such as decommissioning, demolition, or excavation.
  • An in-depth understanding of how to influence others to operationalise, integrate and deliver SHE processes, projects and change in a business.
  • A strong ability to influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across all levels.
  • Analytical thought to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations.
  • An effective communicator able to negotiate internally and externally across a range of levels and with high‑level sensitivity.
  • Chartered membership of an appropriate professional safety, health and/or environmental institution is desirable.
