An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Officer to join the KBS Maritime Commercial Team, supporting the delivery of infrastructure projects within a highly collaborative, client-facing environment at HM Naval Base Portsmouth.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Supply Chain, and Finance teams, the Commercial Officer will provide commercially focused advice, support informed decision-making, and contribute to the successful delivery of infrastructure investment programmes.

You will work as part of the team, ensuring the effective commercial management of projects across the full lifecycle, from concept and business case development through the tender process and into contract execution and close-out.

Supporting the Commercial Manager in the day-to-day commercial management of infrastructure projects, ensuring activity is delivered in line with contractual requirements.

Assisting with the administration of contracts across both pre-contract and post-contract stages, including the drafting, review and management of contractual documentation, while also helping to ensure compliance with prime contract obligations and the effective flow-down of requirements to the supply chain.

Support the development of project cost estimates, budgets and forecasts, helping to ensure robust financial planning across a varied portfolio of infrastructure projects.

Supporting the preparation and submission of Task Approval Forms proactively support the management of the pipeline of deliverables requiring client approval, ensuring timely submissions and effective engagement, while also building strong working relationships with all stakeholders to support efficient decision-making and successful programme delivery.

Maintaining accurate records of change events, ensuring robust governance is applied throughout, and helping to secure appropriate commercial recovery in support of project and business objectives.

Experience operating in a similar Commercial, Projects or Quantity Surveying role within an infrastructure or engineering environment.

A desire of working towards professional certifications such as WCC Foundation, CIPS, RICS.

Commercially astute and motivated, with the ability to balance risk, value for money, and delivery outcomes in a dynamic project environment.

Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships across client, project, and supply chain stakeholders.

Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, governance, and robust commercial controls while managing competing priorities.

Proactive and resilient, with a “can-do” attitude and commitment to driving continuous improvement in commercial processes and project outcomes.
