The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Manager will support the business with its construction programme, hard facilities management and operational service delivery. KBS Maritime manages dry docks, high voltage electrical networks, heavy lifting, miles of roads, waterfront jetties and hundreds of buildings. This role will have a significant impact on our 400 employees, hundreds of subcontractors and thousands of Naval personnel and site users.
The role holder will be a senior manager within a small multidisciplinary SHE team of six people and report to the SHEQ Director. You’ll provide competent and comprehensive SHE advice and support to Business Leaders and Line Managers across the business, enabling you to effectively manage SHE within your areas of responsibility. You’ll be responsible for leading the development, maintenance and deployment of the SHE Management System (including objectives, processes and assurance) that meet the requirements of ISO45001 and ISO14001 and support the achievement of organisational goals. You’ll be responsible for business SHE performance and risk management, including incident investigation and continual improvement.
To succeed in this role, you should ideally have experience working within a SHE-based discipline in both operational and management capacities. You should have in-depth experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining a SHE Management System compliant with ISO 45001. Collaboration with various stakeholders and managing expectations is crucial, as is positively influencing decisions and outcomes that support the performance of the SHE Management System. Additionally, you should have experience in accident and incident investigation. A detailed understanding of assurance, identifying non-conformances, producing reports, and managing actions through to completion is essential.

- IOSH membership
- Lead Auditor qualification
While delivering the role, you will demonstrate competence in several key areas. You act as a SHE role model by setting high standards of honesty and authenticity, creating an environment that supports and coaches others. As a SHE facilitator, you share knowledge and learning, welcome feedback, and use your skills to motivate and encourage a high SHE performance. You champion SHE within the whole business, making goals meaningful and relevant, advocating for customers and stakeholders, and promoting improvement and change. Additionally, you demonstrate a robust SHE approach by understanding the organization as a system, valuing information and knowledge for decision-making, and planning and preparing for successful outcomes.
