What You’ll be doing:

The M&E Surveyor role is an integral part of the multi-disciplined team of surveyors within the Estates Surveyors Team.

You will be working within a team of Building M&E and Mechanical surveyors providing thorough analysis of mechanical and electrical defects and compiling detailed reports/scopes of work of desired solutions and cost estimates of proposed works.

For this particular role, we are seeking someone with a strong mechanical background including heating/ventilation experience.

Working with the Surveys Lead and the Estates Surveyors to ensure that all planned surveys are carried out as per the Planned Maintenance Survey Programme.

As part of delivering this role, you will typically be:

  • Undertaking general surveys and providing recommendations with regard to Survey Requests generated via the Company Help Desk.
  • Undertaking asset verification, condition or dilapidation surveys on mechanical and electrical plant.
  • Assessing and providing specific insight into the condition, performance and operational risk of M&E systems by undertaking non-intrusive inspections.
  • Undertaking surveys of buildings, utilities and infrastructure to asset Level 4 in accordance with Asset Physical Condition Grading Methodology (APCGM).
  • Providing Technical Reports with regard to Specification 024 (Spec 024) asset types, e.g. buildings systems, infrastructure (inc.) electrical/heating distribution networks.
  • Displaying knowledge of and understanding of statutory requirements, current regulations and Approved Codes of Practice.
  • Advising and informing the Client with regard to the material state of assets whilst maintaining and promoting best practice and value for money.
  • Demonstrating commercial awareness and assessing value for money for building/repair work carried out.
  • Providing a comprehensive overview of Naval Base assets based on desktop and physical surveys, professional training, knowledge and experience.
  • Providing option studies, feasibility studies and cost estimates at the behest of the Client.

You’ll Have:

  • Demonstrable technical/surveying experience gained working in the construction industry/similar FM environment.
  • Construction site safety requirements knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of building systems technology and pathology.
  • Interpersonal skills to operate at a fully competent level working as part of a team and independently at times.
  • Good working knowledge of the building regulations, CDM and appropriate legislation.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply construction/systems related Health & Safety legislation and good practice through technical simplification where necessary.
  • Strategic thinker with knowledge of and understanding of statutory requirements, current regulations and approved codes of practice.
  • Relevant experience of using all Microsoft packages, particularly practical IT skills using Outlook, Word and Excel, and familiarity with databases.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally degree qualified (but not essential) with suitable professional experience in a related field.
  • Minimum HNC in a mechanical and/or electrical surveying/engineering discipline.
  • Competent training skills, ideally: Heating engineer; 18th Edition; Asbestos; Working at Height; Confined Spaces; MEWP licence; Skilled Climber.
  • Hold appropriate Health and Safety Qualifications e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH.
  • Ability to obtain or have held or be eligible to apply for security clearance.
