About the role
You will lead and deliver structural inspections, condition appraisals and remedial work programmes across a diverse estate â from historic buildings and concrete frames to steel structures, masts and towers. Working closely with our Chief Engineer, Estates Surveyors and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will provide expert technical insight, deliver highâquality reporting and ensure that any required works are scoped, assessed and costed accurately. This role blends handsâon structural surveying with technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and the opportunity to influence longâterm asset management plans.
About you
You are a trusted structural engineering professional who brings sound technical judgement, strong communication skills and an organised, methodical approach to your work. You enjoy working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, and you are confident providing clear advice to colleagues, clients and contractors. You take pride in producing thorough, accurate reports, and you are comfortable navigating statutory requirements, health and safety considerations and building regulations. Above all, you bring a proactive mindset, a commitment to high standards, and a genuine interest in delivering safe, sustainable, valueâdriven solutions.
You will have:
- Membership of a relevant engineering body (e.g. IStructE or ICE)
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
- Knowledge and experience of structural condition surveys across varied building types
- Understanding of Building Regulations, statutory requirements and health and safety legislation
- Strong foundation in building construction technology and building pathology
- Experience preparing professional reports, specifications, schedules and recommendations
- Demonstrable structural engineering or surveying experience within construction or FM environments
- Ability to assess value for money and ensure works meet required standards
- Competence in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Health & Safety training (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent)
- Eligibility to obtain security clearance
