As part of the Electrical engineering team reporting to the Principal Electrical Design Manager, the HV Electrical Design Manager will deliver projects from inception to completion through the RIBA design stages. You will provide discipline expertise across asset streams, delivering high‑voltage distribution design solutions for medium to high complex projects from inception to in‑service. You will lead the design and development of high‑voltage electrical systems (substations, transmission lines, switchgear) and conduct power system studies (load flow, short‑circuit analysis, insulation coordination, transient studies) using ETAP software, ensuring compliance with IEC, IEEE, BS, NEC and client specifications. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.

You’ll Have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, and working towards chartered engineer status.
  • Strong knowledge of high‑voltage power system components and protection schemes, experience in substation and transmission system design (up to 33kV), and proficiency in design software such as ETAP, AutoCAD or similar.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
