Drawing from its rich 100-year history and culture of innovation and mission focus, KBR creates sustainable value by combining engineering, technical and scientific expertise with its full life cycle capabilities to help our clients meet their most pressing challenges today and into the future.

KBR Consulting is seeking a Principal Process Consultant with Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) experience to join our international consulting organisation. The successful candidate will be a senior technical leader, providing high-value advisory and engineering input across the CCUS project lifecycle and supporting business development activities aligned with the energy transition.

Reporting to the KBR Consulting International leadership team, the Principal Process Consultant will play a key role in delivering technically robust, commercially informed consulting assignments for clients across the energy, industrial, and decarbonisation sectors. Assignments typically range from strategy and feasibility through concept development, Pre-FEED and FEED, as well as technical due diligence and lender’s technical advisor engagements.

As a more experienced individual in the team, the Principal Process Consultant performs their own work in terms of collecting information, developing deliverables, analysing trends and key findings, and preparing Word or PowerPoint Reports. Recognizing their project management responsibilities, the Principal Process Consultant should have excellent organizational skills and be good at communicating and guiding others. They will typically manage and/or work on a few projects at one time, thereby necessitating excellent ability to multi-task, work without supervision, exercise good judgment and communicate with colleagues within the wider KBR organisation.

Additionally, the Principal Process Consultant will support the group’s overall sales effort through proposal/tender preparation, contract negotiation, and other client interfacing activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
    • Act as a technical authority on CCUS-related studies and projects, including capture technologies, CO₂ compression and conditioning/purification, transport (pipeline and shipping), and storage concepts.
    • Lead or provide senior technical oversight for feasibility, concept and Pre-FEED studies, technical and economic evaluations, technology assessment and selection, and CO₂ value chain integration.
    • Develop and review high-quality technical deliverables including reports, presentations, models, and decision support materials.
    • Apply engineering judgement and experience to identify risks, opportunities, and cost or performance drivers.
  • Client Engagement & Advisory
    • Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, communicating effectively at both technical and executive levels.
    • Translate complex engineering topics into clear, decision-ready business insights.
    • Support client discussions on decarbonisation strategies, CCUS deployment pathways, and investment readiness.
  • Business Development & Market Support
    • Support KBR Consulting’s CCUS and energy transition growth strategy through proposal preparation, technical inputs to bids and presentations, and client meetings and technical workshops.
    • Contribute to thought leadership, market positioning, and internal capability development within CCUS and broader energy transition services.
  • Team & Knowledge Leadership
    • Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers and consultants.
    • Contribute to the development of internal methodologies, tools, and best practices.
    • Collaborate across KBR’s wider global organisation, integrating multi-discipline expertise where appropriate.
    • Prepare and deliver conference papers at international events.
    • Support the growth of the business.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate depth of experience and knowledge in several of the following service areas:

  • Carbon capture & sequestration market knowledge.
  • Industry competitiveness/awareness.
  • Facility operations.
  • Process design understanding and modelling.
  • Feasibility and configuration studies to determine the viability of CCUS projects.
  • Understanding of technical safety for CCUS applications and applicable regulations.
  • Knowledge of vendors/licensor technologies.
  • Process operations and improvements.
  • Project execution strategies.
  • Direct sales experience.
  • Client relationships in EMEA region.
Essential skills:
  • Degree (BEng / MEng or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A relevant number of years’ experience in engineering consultancy, project development, or operating company roles.
  • Demonstrable experience in carbon capture and/or CO₂ infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience supporting feasibility, concept and Pre-FEED studies.
  • Experience in energy transition projects beyond CCUS (e.g. hydrogen, low-carbon fuels, industrial decarbonisation).
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and deliver high-quality outputs to tight schedules.
  • Must be able to travel on short notice on short trips including overnight stay for up to approximately 30% of the time.

Other Functions: Based in Leatherhead. Knowledge of process simulation (e.g. using Hysys, Unisim, Promax, etc.) is a plus. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Positive and flexible attitude.
