The IM Systems role is responsible for the setup, management, and operation of interfaces between engineering applications such as SMARTPLANT and AVEVA authoring tools, engineering databases and Digital Twin technology. The role ensures that data is correctly shared, consistent, accurate, and includes the administration of data repositories where the project engineering and supplier data is stored and maintained. It involves receiving or performing data transfers, managing changes, and generating reports to ensure effective exchange and handover of a complete dataset to the Client for the operations phase.

Key Activities:

  • Plan, direct, co-ordinate and be the focal point for data management systems integration.
  • Facilitate the setup and configuration of the data repositories to meet the project requirements.
  • Understand corporate and project requirements for data collection, conditioning, reporting and handover.
  • Configuration of data entry tables (grids) and data access controls.
  • Data import, export, transform and load.
  • Define tag format, list of values, unit of measure etc.
  • Manage transfer of Class Library data into engineering database and Digital Twin environment.
  • Setup and ensure compliance with Data Standards.
  • Define project reports, summary and business intelligence dashboards.
  • Coordinate with project disciplines to resolve any data inconsistencies, errors or mapping issues associated with interfaces.

Experience, Education, Skills & Job Knowledge:

  • University degree qualification or equivalent oil and gas industry experience.
  • A relevant number of years of experience in an engineering data systems role.
  • Experience of using and managing Engineering Data Warehouses such as AVEVA Engineering, SMARTPLANT Foundation or similar.
  • IT Skills – Excellent working knowledge of databases and reporting.
  • A good technical background in Oracle 12c, PL/SQL, ETL and data warehousing.
  • Expertise with writing and optimising Oracle/SQL stored procedures and query performance.
  • Automation of processes using different scripting languages like PowerShell, CMD etc.
  • Strong design and system architecture skills.
  • Designing and implementing new business logic/reports as SQL inside stored procedures within the existing system/reporting framework, as well as enhancing and maintaining existing functionality.
  • Self-sufficient and be creative in defining reporting/data solutions.
  • A strong background with the Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of AVEVA Net, AIM and Engage or similar.
