We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starting and ambitious Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Civil and Structural Engineering Department, based in Leatherhead.

Requirements

Technical experience – to include the following:

  • Compiling specification related to geotechnical aspects of offshore substructures associated with fixed and/or floating oil & gas platforms
  • Designing temporary & permanent foundations of substructures for fixed and/or floating oil & gas platforms including generating soil springs
  • Feasibility studies, including geological, geotechnical, seismic and other geohazard assessments
  • Designing, contracting and supervising ground investigations
  • Interpreting ground investigation results
  • Design of earthworks and earth structures, including groundwater control measures
  • Design of ground improvement measures
  • Design of earth retaining structures
  • Selection and design of foundations
  • Site engineering support to construction works
  • ASCII database and geotechnical software design packages
  • Preparation of ground works material and cost estimates
  • Supervisory experience – able to work alone or as a member of a project team, taking the lead for geotechnical input and supervising engineers and designers on larger projects. Experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously and with multiple design offices would be an advantage. The work will involve liaising with other disciplines, clients and coordinating/working with project team members across global offices to deliver the tasks within allotted timelines and budgets.
  • Industry sector – experience of oil and gas, power generation, other heavy industry or civil infrastructure projects for the UK and/or global projects
  • Qualifications

  • MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or related subject. A first degree in Civil Engineering is preferred
  • Professional qualifications – Chartered Engineer/Geologist
