Lead Accountant
The Programme and Project Partners (PPP) model was mobilised in 2019 with the purpose of transforming major project delivery at the Sellafield nuclear site.
The partnership is delivering a 20-year pipeline of major infrastructure projects to support the decommissioning of Sellafield and to create a clean and safe environment for future generations.
In delivering its pipeline of large-scale infrastructure projects, PPP is creating opportunities for its people, supply chain, economy and communities.

Working within the KBR Cost & Profit Team, and closely with the client and wider project team.
Responsible for performing advanced and moderately complex accounting activities related to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports; financial statements; and client invoice, requiring a high degree of accuracy.
Responsible for reconciling and analysis of complex balance sheet accounts.
Attempts to maximise value through an understanding of operational costs, expenses and the impact of decisions on the bottom line.
- Key Accountabilities
- To carry out month end activities and assist to close out the period. This will include a detailed review of all costs for onward billing to the client
- Work closely with the various project teams to produce an accurate forecast on the project
- Review timesheet bookings to ensure accuracy of hours and codes
- Understand project policies and procedures pertaining to expenses and assist with any expense policy updates
- To assist in producing monthly Application for Payment (AFP)
- To raise monthly invoice to client
- Assist with monthly client Cost Assurance
- To help facilitate monthly financial reviews with operations.
- To implement and monitor internal financial controls SOX/FCPA.
- Regularly review cost against budget, actively seeking ways to save costs / areas to improve
- Works within allocated budgets and resources
- Regularly reviews processes which have a financial impact
- Participates in the setting of forecasts and plans
Qualifications
Qualified or studying towards ACMA, ACA or ACCA with 3 to 7 years’ experience in project accounting environment.
Essential
- At least 3 years’ experience in project accounting environment.
- Ability to interact at all levels within local operation and Head Office up to Senior A&F Lead level.
- Ability to step in for the immediate Supervisor as and when necessary.
- Good IT skills with proficiency in Excel and Word
- Knowledge of US GAAP/SOX/FCPA desirable
- Ability to deal with vendors and clients.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Personal Qualities
- Good written and oral communications, including technical proficiency in financial and management accounting.
- Team worker with good interpersonal skills and flexible approach.
- Able to work on own initiative with little or no guidance from immediate Supervisor.
- Proactive and action orientated.
