Senior Project Engineer – Design
We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer with significant Design Management experience to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering Manager in developing the project basis of design, philosophies, key studies, novel technologies and value improvement practices.
- Ensure familiarity with contract terms and scope of work, communicate them properly to the engineering staff, and perform all required engineering activities as per contract.
- Prepare, issue, and maintain the project design basis document; treat post‑issue changes as scope‑work changes.
- Coordinate multi‑discipline input and work with engineering disciplines to ensure readiness for project stage‑gate reviews.
- Act as the Object Engineering Champion on a project and support successful rollout.
- Advocate the KBR staged execution approach, ensuring correct sequencing between disciplines to support project success.
- Support Project Controls in developing schedules and resolving potential discipline conflicts.
- Assist disciplines with mitigation measures when additional parallel work is required.
- Collate the ITT package, ensuring high quality through engagement of key stakeholders.
- Facilitate project workshops focused on lessons learned, risk management, and discipline‑specific topics.
- Keep up to date with KBR Digital solutions and initiatives and support their effective rollout on projects.
- Support the KBR Project Startup process, ensuring the project meets requirements in a timely manner.
- Commit to the success of KBR’s global workshare execution methodology.
Key Attributes & Skills
- Experience in multiple project delivery as a Project Engineer or Design Manager across different phases (FEED, Detail Design, etc.).
- Aspirations to develop into a Project Engineering Manager.
- Willingness to travel for business trips and site visits as required.
- Experience developing scoping documents with multi‑discipline inputs.
- Collaboration skills within a team environment and strong communication for internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrable flexibility and ability to adapt to changing project priorities and deliver high‑quality, accurate work within deadlines.
- Ability to work with clients to resolve issues, including conflicting demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts with other groups.
- Experience working with clients in lump‑sum environments with a focus on change management.
- Extensive experience in 2D and 3D applications to drive efficiencies with discipline teams.
- Understanding of project safety requirements, international standards and implications on design.
- Experience leading 3D Model Review meetings and coordinating multi‑discipline input to resolve actions.
- Experience communicating across a multi‑discipline team and across different offices.
- IT literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Project.
- Desirable experience in configuration and management of 3D databases.
- Desirable experience working with Building Information Management (BIM).
- Desirable experience in UK project execution.
- Desirable experience in nuclear project execution.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering (BEng or BSc).
- Professional accreditation with a registered Institution, Engineering Council, or equivalent.
