This role sits within KBR's Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) in the Integrated Solutions International business unit. Integrated Solutions is the engineering and project delivery group providing services which include front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction services, and program management primarily in the hydrocarbons and energy transition industries.
We are seeking a Senior Piping Stress Engineer with relevant experience in piping stress analysis within major EPC project environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in conventional energy projects and a keen interest in expanding skills across energy transition sectors.
As a technical authority, you will provide expert judgment, ensure mechanical integrity of piping systems, and guide the development of critical project deliverables. The role involves working on complex piping systems, specialist analyses (including FEA), and leading stress engineering activities across multi-disciplinary teams.
This position is based at our Chennai Engineering Office as an Expat supporting global EPC projects through multi-centre execution. Candidates should be willing to work in an office-based environment in Chennai. This role will be on a Project Hire basis. Work may involve short-term travel to project sites or global engineering offices.
Job Responsibilities:- Perform stress analysis using CAESAR II.
- Quality check percentage of check stress calculation notes for the project, prior to the team issuing piping isometrics for construction and including in the Piping Stress Analysis Report.
- Provide SME support to the Piping Team in Chennai.
- Execute FEA for complex components (ANSYS or equivalent).
- Check the Critical Line List is being maintained, and criticality is as per project-specific stress procedures.
- Mentor a team of stress engineers.
- Support vibration analysis and transportation analysis.
- Coordinate with piping, mechanical, civil, and process teams.
- Participate, when requested, in client meetings and technical reviews.
- Develop, implement and maintain project work practices, procedures and job notes.
- Designing piping systems for Flow Induced Vibration.
- Committed to multi-centre project execution.
- Isometric checking.
- Adhere to KBR WAY engineering standards and procedures as well as provide input to their development and enhancement.
- Strong Knowledge of applicable industry standards (ASME B31.3, API, BS etc.).
- Familiar with the TOTAL GS Specifications and Standards.
- Experience on large EPC and Brownfield projects.
- Working knowledge of FEA Analysis.
- Experienced in developing and implementing project procedures.
- Transportation Analysis of Piping Systems.
- Vibration mitigation of piping systems.
- Forward thinking and happy to challenge the way we work and contribute to the development of the KBR WAY.
- Keen to share knowledge with Engineers located in the Chennai Office and other KBR offices.
- Good communication skills.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree.
- Chartered Engineer Status (desirable).
