About the RoleKBR is seeking a Construction Manager to support the successful delivery of complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects within its infrastructure and energy portfolio. This role is responsible for leading site-based construction activities, ensuring alignment with project execution plans, contractual obligations, and client requirements from mobilisation through to final handover. Operating as a central point of coordination across multidisciplinary teams, the Construction Manager integrates engineering, procurement, and construction functions to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes within defined schedule and budget constraints. The position requires active engagement with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders while maintaining consistent oversight of performance, compliance, and risk. Through structured planning, detailed reporting, and effective communication, the role ensures construction activities are executed efficiently and in accordance with industry standards.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities across assigned projects, ensuring alignment with approved execution strategies and project objectives.
- Oversee contractors and subcontractors to ensure work is performed in accordance with specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress against milestones, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain delivery timelines.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and regulatory requirements across all site operations.
- Review and approve construction methodologies, work plans, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure seamless integration of project phases.
- Manage cost performance by tracking expenditures, supporting budget control, and contributing to forecasting and reporting activities.
- Facilitate communication between clients, consultants, and site teams, providing regular updates on project status and key deliverables.
- Lead site inspections, quality assurance processes, and resolution of technical or operational issues during construction execution.
- Significant experience managing construction activities on large-scale EPC or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience overseeing subcontractors and multi-disciplinary site teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, and cost control activities.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- Experience working on energy, utilities, or major infrastructure programmes.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software.
- Experience within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) or client-side environment.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience managing construction activities on EPC projects.
- Experience using Primavera P6 or equivalent project scheduling tool.
- Experience managing construction schedules and cost performance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Valid CSCS card or equivalent site certification for construction management roles.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- Chartered status or membership with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or equivalent professional body.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Reading/Bristol/Plymouth - hybrid working with a mix of office-based and remote working.
