About the Role

Frazer‑Nash Consultancy, working closely with BAE Systems in Land, Marine and Air, seeks a Systems Engineer – Consultant to support the Client Director in the delivery of projects and programmes within the BAE Systems delivery portfolio. You will work on large defence contracts, providing systems engineering transformation, MBSE, specialist engineering support and digital engineering transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver consultancy on systems engineering challenges, digital modelling and solution architecture.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, define problems and shape solutions aligned with business and operational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain close client relationships, ensuring long‑term collaboration and strategic advisory support.
  • Support bids and proposals with technically credible, commercially viable solutions.
  • Support system lifecycle management, overseeing key processes such as requirements engineering, verification & validation, and system integration.
  • Facilitate workshops and technical discussions, ensuring alignment between engineering teams and business objectives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in a Systems Engineering related role.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect or Rhapsody.
  • Understanding of engineering processes and lifecycles (ISO15288, etc.).
  • Experience with Systems Engineering established Requirements Management toolsets (IBMDOORS, DOORSNext, etc.).
  • Complex problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Awareness of emerging technologies and innovation strategies within systems engineering, especially AI.
  • Experience working as a consultant and managing projects.
  • Experience working in Defence.
