Location: Bristol and Glasgow

Working arrangements: Flexible hybrid working between office, client sites and home.

Senior C&I Engineers undertake a range of projects across all sectors from civil nuclear sites and defence facilities to renewable energy and storage systems. Projects vary from small scoping and feasibility studies for modifications or upgrades to the design of complex process plants including nuclear power stations and COMAH sites. The work often has a safety critical element and interfaces with other teams within Frazer‑Nash to deliver a multi-disciplinary service offering. Managing these interfaces and ensuring effective communication internally and to clients is an essential element of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee C&I projects from concept design through to commissioning.
  • Design novel process control systems, including accompanying safety systems.
  • Deliver innovation projects, taking new systems and technologies from concept through to acceptance.
  • Production, verification and approval of electrical reports, specifications and detailed design drawings.
  • Manage a project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget.
  • Client facing to develop requirements, negotiate contracts/agreements, report progress and manage risk.

Essential Requirements

  • MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Extensive practical knowledge of process control systems and EC&I documents such as SLDs, P&IDs, BCDs and schematics.
  • Experience developing solutions for safety‑critical systems aligned with IEC61508, IEC61511, ISO13849, DO-178 and DO-254.
  • Experience working to the requirements of ISO9001.
  • Mentoring and development of electrical engineers.
  • Technical leadership on projects.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Pilz PAS4000, Rockwell Studio Logic.
  • Formal functional safety certification/accreditation (e.g., TUV Functional Safety Professional).
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security standards such as IEC62443.
  • Familiarity with change control and defect tracking tools and processes.
  • Chartership.
  • Interfacing with Regulators (ONR, DMR, CAA, MAA, Ofgem, ORR, etc).
