Overview
Frazer-Nash provides aviation certification and safety assurance services to the UK Military Defence sector. We are looking for an experienced propulsion senior engineer or consultant to support the development and delivery of this service. The selected candidate will provide engineering expertise to our large team of multi-discipline aerospace engineers across a variety of fixed‐wing, rotary‐wing, crewed and uncrewed air systems. The Assurance team supports clients in providing the UK with air‐worthy, safe, sustainable military capability through systems engineering and technical services across the MoD in the aerospace domain and other domains.
Our clients require support in initial platform type certification, type airworthiness, continuing airworthiness and technical delivery of projects. This role suits an engineer with previous experience within National Armaments - Materiel / Defence Equipment & Support Delivery Teams or front‐line delivery of air systems or commodity equipment. Civil experience in certification is also welcomed. The role represents an opportunity to join an expanding team to support and deliver technical delivery on projects across the aerospace spectrum within defence. You will develop a portfolio of project deliveries, hone your consultancy skills and help develop junior engineers and graduates, and may also work outside defence aerospace or gain civil experience to widen your skillset further.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of aviation certification and safety assurance services
- Provide engineering expertise to a multi‐discipline aerospace team across fixed‐wing, rotary‐wing, crewed and uncrewed air systems
- Assist in initial platform type certification and type airworthiness, continuing airworthiness and technical delivery of projects
- Lead on technical delivery within programmes
- Engage with integrity working groups such as Engine or Propulsion SIWG
Qualifications – Essential Requirements
- Sound engineering experience across multiple disciplines
- Specialist engineering experience in aircraft propulsion and certification
- Experience as a propulsion engineer SME within an aviation environment
- Strong understanding of gas turbine engines, fuel systems and propulsion integration
- Experience participating in Integrity Working Groups (e.g. Engine or Propulsion SIWG)
- Knowledge of engine certification and airworthiness processes
- Practical experience in initial or continuing airworthiness
- Qualified to Chartered Engineer level or working towards it
- Demonstrable technical experience in a Systems Engineering environment within the aerospace industry (certification requirements, compliance, safety and assurance, test and acceptance)
- Strong customer‐focused attitude
- Understanding of the different air safety aspects across an air system life cycle
Qualifications – Desirable Requirements
- First degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience within a delivery team or Defence Equipment & Support Frontline Engineering
- Experience on a squadron or similar
- Previous or current experience as an engineering consultant
- UK National Security Vetting clearance (pre‐employment screening required)
